Activities
Ara Cardew: Throwing clay on the wheel
As a ceramics student with some or no experience working on the potter's wheel, you'll concentrate on form, turning, pulling handles, and assembling.
Janice Hubbard: Stained Glass
Students will learn to cut, grind, foil and solder a colorful stained glass abstract for hanging in a window.
For Safety – NO open toed shoes please.
This section will only be offered to campers 12 years old and up.
Linda Yarritu Glazer: Beading and Jewelry Making
Students will learn to make their own jewelry using a variety of techniques and materials, ranging from Brazilian friendship bracelets to polymer clay beads to jewelry made from recycled household objects.
Melanie Gillman: Creating Comics and Cartoons
This class will explore the basics of cartooning, giving students a chance to hone their drawing and storytelling skills, and to learn how to create their own comics.
Amy Robb: Painting Techniques on Pottery
Campers get ready for some wacky fun with Tip Top Pottery’s owner. We will learn some new techniques and styles of painting on bisque. It will be a mystery until you get here!
Camp Staff
BEADING
Linda Yarritu Glazer: Owner of Vermont Bead Studio, Linda has been teaching for years.
CERAMICS
Ara Cardew: A master potter with over 30 years experience working with various styles of throwing including West African, Japanese, and Old English. Ara has been teaching for 20 years.
STAINED GLASS
Janice Hubbard: Took her first stained glass class over 20 years ago and was immediately hooked on the art. Four years ago she opened My Stained Glass Store to teach and sell stained glass supplies and finished pieces. Janice also works in glass fusing and teaches a jewelry fusing class.
CARTOONING / DRAWING
Melanie Gillman is a cartoonist and an MFA student at the Center for Cartoon Studies. She specializes in comics fiction and autobiography, and has been publishing her comics for the past four years.
POTTERY PAINTING
Amy Robb: Owner of Tip Top Pottery for more than 6 years, Amy has been playing with adults and kids in the art of technique painting on bisque.
